What type of driver’s licence do I need?

You need a valid licence that legally allows you to drive the passenger vehicle you use.

For example:

  • Ontario: Class G is the standard licence for cars, vans, and small trucks.

  • Québec: Class 5 permits the operation of an automobile.

  • Alberta: Class 5 is the standard passenger-vehicle licence.

  • British Columbia: Class 5 is the standard full passenger-vehicle licence.

  • Any restrictions attached to your licence still apply.
