Terms of Service

Welcome to WakandaRides! By accessing or using our platform, website, or app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. About WakandaRides

WakandaRides is a carpooling platform owned and operated by Wakanda Technology Inc., a corporation registered in Canada, and by Wakanda Technology LLC, a limited liability company registered in the United States (Delaware).

The platform is designed to connect drivers who have empty seats in their vehicles with passengers traveling the same route, allowing them to share travel costs for intercity and long-distance trips within Canada and the United States.

Important: We Are NOT a Taxi Service

WakandaRides operates under applicable carpooling regulations and is not a taxi service, ride-hailing platform (such as Uber or Lyft), or a commercial transportation provider. All trips are driver-directed, meaning the driver determines the origin, destination, schedule, and pick-up/drop-off points. All trips must be non-commercial in nature; drivers are not permitted to earn a profit and may only receive contributions from passengers to help offset travel-related costs such as fuel, insurance, and vehicle maintenance.

WakandaRides provides an online platform (available via mobile app and website) that facilitates these connections but does not operate vehicles, employ drivers, or guarantee trips. WakandaRides is not a party to any agreement between drivers and passengers and disclaims all liability to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

2. Definitions

  • Wakanda Technology Inc/LLC: The registered company that owns and operates the WakandaRides platform.
  • WakandaRides: The name of the app and online platform operated by Wakanda Technology.
  • Service: All features and functionalities offered via the WakandaRides website, app, and platform.
  • Driver: A registered user offering a seat in their personal vehicle for a shared ride.
  • Passenger: A registered user booking a seat in a Driver's vehicle for a shared trip.
  • Member: Any user who registers an account with WakandaRides.
  • Trip: A scheduled journey between an origin and destination posted by a Driver.
  • Booking: The act of a Passenger reserving and paying for a seat on a Trip.
  • Booking Fee: A service charge paid by the Passenger on top of the Trip cost.
  • Payout: The net amount transferred to the Driver after deduction of fees.
  • Payout Fee: A service fee deducted from a Driver's payout.
  • No-show: A situation where a confirmed Driver or Passenger does not appear at the agreed meeting point.

3. Fees and Payment

For Passengers

Passengers pay a booking fee - typically around 17% (including tax) when reserving a seat. This helps us operate the platform and provide support.

For Drivers

Drivers don't pay a platform fee. However, a 3.15% payout processing fee is deducted by our payment provider (e.g., Stripe or PayPal).

4. Cancellation Policies

Passenger Cancellation Policy

  • More than 24 hours before departure: Full refund of trip contribution (booking fee is non-refundable)
  • Less than 24 hours before departure: 50% refund of trip contribution, other 50% goes to driver
  • No-show (don't cancel and don't show up): No refund provided

Driver Cancellation Policy

Warning: Cancelling a confirmed trip can leave passengers stranded. Drivers should only post trips they fully intend to take.

To cancel: Go to Trip Settings > Cancel Trip and provide a reason to passengers.

  • Passengers receive a full refund, including the booking fee
  • A cancellation notice is added to your profile
  • You're allowed one cancellation per 6-month period
  • More than one cancellation may result in suspension
  • Avoid speculative trip postings - they may harm your profile and access

5. Geographic Restrictions

Canada Only: WakandaRides is only available for intercity travel within Canada. Cross-border trips to the United States or elsewhere are not allowed.

6. Prohibited Activities

Strictly Prohibited

  • Reselling bus or train tickets
  • Offering professional driving services
  • Commercial transport activities
  • Earning profit from rides (cost-sharing only)

Accounts involved in resale or commercial transport will be suspended.

7. Support and Contact

No Phone Support: We do not provide phone support. All support is handled through in-app messaging or by emailing support@wakandarides.com.

In emergencies involving personal safety, please contact 911.

8. Liability Disclaimer

Important: WakandaRides is not a party to any agreement between drivers and passengers and disclaims all liability to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. We provide a platform to facilitate connections but do not operate vehicles, employ drivers, or guarantee trips.
